If you are looking for a conveniently located hotel in South Lake Tahoe with a modern but cozy mountain atmosphere, look no further than the Coachman Hotel.
I recently enjoyed a two-night stay at the rustic yet chic hotel. I live in South Lake Tahoe, but sometimes it's nice to indulge in a little relaxing staycation. And I figured mid-September (when Lake Tahoe starts to quiet down and the temperatures begin to dip) was the perfect time to take one.
LOCATION
Located in the Stateline area of South Lake Tahoe, Coachman Hotel is within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, bars, Heavenly Village, and the Stateline casinos.
AESTHETIC
I would describe the overall aesthetic of the hotel as mountain chic. It has a modern feel but with woodsy, rustic touches. The beautifully designed lobby is warm and inviting. There are several cozy seating nooks, a variety of old-school games like Jenga and Checkers, an expresso/cocktail bar, and large glass doors that lead to a deck with firepits (more on the amenities later in the post).
THE ROOMS
I stayed in their One Bedroom Suite. The suite features a master bedroom with a king-size bed, a separate living area with a couch that converts to a twin trundle bed, a kitchenette, and a private balcony. I very much appreciated how spacious the room was, the comfortable bedding, and the blackout curtains. As far as decor, I loved the dark paneling on the walls. It was definitely a vibe.
The bathroom provides Malin + Goetz skincare and shower products and has a heated toilet seat, which was pretty awesome- and a first-time experience for me. I can definitely see this feature coming in handy in the winter.

AMENITIES
The Coachman Hotel offers an array of amenities that set it apart from other hotels in the South Lake Tahoe area. Here were some of my favorites...
HEATED POOL & HOT TUB
I was pleasantly surprised when I jumped into the pool and discovered it was heated! I also took the opportunity to take a long morning soak in the hot tub (on both mornings of my stay) while enjoying my coffee.☕️
NIGHTLY S'MORES BY THE FIRE
Coachman Hotel offers complimentary s'mores every night from 7 pm-9 pm. No matter the season, roasting s'mores by the fire is such a fun and cozy way to end the day.
EXPRESSO AND COCKTAIL BAR
The reception desk is also a bar (how neat!) that serves coffee, espresso, draft beers, and a selection of wine. And they offer a daily Happy Hour from 3 pm-5 pm.
*Complimentary Stumptown Coffee is served from 7 am-10 am.
BIKES FOR GUEST USE
Coachman Hotel provides complimentary bikes for hotel guests, which I thought was a very nice touch and a great alternative way to explore the South Lake Tahoe area.
There's a few more amenities that I haven't mentioned, including that the hotel is pet-friendly! For more on the Coachman Hotel click here.
