Check out this cute and cozy retreat on Tahoe’s West Shore.

If you’re looking for the perfect cabin in Lake Tahoe, you’re in the right place. I recently spent a few days at The Sugar Pine Speakeasy, a charming 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom modern A-frame near Homewood, California. Here’s what the stay was like.
First Impressions: The Front Exterior
The outside of the cabin is exactly what you imagine when you think of a classic A-frame in the woods. Located on a quiet street in the Timberland neighborhood on Lake Tahoe's West Shore, the triangular shape, steep roof, large front windows, and towering pine trees all around give it a tucked-away, peaceful feel.

Inside the Cabin
The interior is just as thoughtfully designed as the exterior. Vaulted ceilings and large windows bring the outdoors in, while the rustic décor adds warmth and character. The living area features a gas fireplace, and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need. There’s a nicely sized bedroom downstairs, and the main bathroom has an impressive rain shower, adding a luxurious touch.

Upstairs Bedrooms & Standalone Soaking Tub
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms shaped by the classic A-frame triangular design. The sloped ceilings give each room a tucked-in vibe, while still leaving plenty of space. The king-size beds are plush and super comfy, and the rooms are beautifully decorated.
The main bedroom includes a half bath and an incredible standalone soaking tub, which is definitely one of the cabin’s standout features!

Outdoor Space & Backyard
The backyard has a large deck with a fire table and, of course, a hot tub, because what’s a cabin in Lake Tahoe without one? Tall pine trees surround the space, and the string lights add a nice touch. It’s quiet, and on a clear night you can see all the stars in the sky!

Activities at Your Doorstep
The cabin is about a 10-minute walk to the beach, and the nearest hike, Eagle Rock, is just a short drive away. Ski resorts are nearby, and a few local spots to grab a bite include Sunnyside, West Shore Market, and Fireside Cafe.

All-Season Escape
I stayed in October, which is a great time to visit Lake Tahoe if you’re looking for peace and quiet since it’s the off-season. I can only imagine how magical it would be in the winter with the snow! This cabin is a fantastic spot any time of year, with something to enjoy in every season.
